About The Role

As a Senior Database Reliability Engineer at Paysend, you will play a key role in ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our production database environments across multiple technologies. You will build resilient, high-availability systems and automate operational workflows to support the scalability of our global payment platform.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Oversee the monitoring, maintenance, and operational health of production database environments.
  • Automate repetitive tasks using tools like Ansible.
  • Design and maintain high availability architectures with tools like Patroni.
  • Implement and maintain observability practices including metrics, logging, and alerts.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and failover strategies.
  • Administer security services including encryption, key management, and access controls.
  • Coordinate patching for security and compliance.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize database systems.

What You’ll Need To Be Successful In This Role

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in Database Reliability Engineering or DBA roles.
  • Strong understanding of database internals, performance tuning, and storage optimization.
  • Proficiency with Oracle 12c+, PostgreSQL 14+, MongoDB, and AWS RDS.
  • Hands-on experience with high availability setups using Patroni.
  • Experience with automation using Ansible and scripting in Bash or Python.
  • Experience in developing and testing disaster recovery and failover procedures.

Technical Skills

  • In-depth SQL and performance optimization skills.
  • Experience managing secure database environments.
  • Familiarity with observability stacks like Zabbix, Prometheus, and Grafana.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills.
