About the Software Engineer in Test Role

As a Software Engineer in Test (SDET) on the PayPal Honey Extension team, you will be instrumental in developing and executing both automated and manual tests to ensure seamless, high-quality releases. This role involves close collaboration with developers, product managers, and various stakeholders to validate new features, strengthen automation frameworks, and continuously enhance our testing pipeline. You will own the end-to-end testing process, which includes defining test strategies, executing regression and feature testing, contributing to automation efforts, and driving improvements to release quality through proactive planning and rigorous test execution.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Implements tasks within the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), receiving structure and oversight from more experienced staff.
  • Follows well-established internal conventions and standard procedures.
  • Understands internal standards & processes and applies them to make technical decisions.
  • Collaborates with peers, manager, and project lead to gain understanding of tasks and review solutions.
  • May contribute to code & design reviews.

Expected Qualifications

  • 1+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Responsibilities and Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in creating test plans, test cases, and executing E2E test scenarios.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Keen eye for quality, with a passion for preventing issues before they impact users.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience testing browser extensions.
  • Proficiency with Javascript and modern web automation frameworks (Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium).
  • Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
