About the Role
The Software Development Engineer in Test role at PayPal is part of the Ads Engineering (Mobile) team. In this role, you will execute both manual and exploratory testing to ensure high-quality mobile ad experiences across iOS and Android. You will work closely with developers and product managers to validate new features, verify ad delivery accuracy, and ensure that releases are ready for market.
Essential Responsibilities
- Implement tasks following the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Follow internal conventions and standard procedures.
- Collaborate with peers, managers, and project leads.
- Contribute to code and design reviews.
Expected Qualifications
Minimum 1+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications & Additional Responsibilities
- Hands-on testing of mobile applications using Firebase, emulators/simulators, and device labs.
- Ability to analyze observability metrics and dashboards.
- Experience with cross-browser and cross-session web testing.
- Proficiency with developer tools and browser inspectors for debugging and analysis.
- Skilled in using HTTP inspection tools like Charles Proxy, Fiddler, or Proxyman.

Compensation & Work Arrangement
This role is based in San Jose, California with a pay range of $116,500 to $173,250 annually. Additional compensation may include performance bonuses, equity, or other incentives. The position follows a balanced hybrid work model with 3 days in-office and 2 days remote.
