About The Role
We are hiring a Head of Engineering at Pavago to own the entire technical function of an early-stage SaaS platform. This hands-on leadership role involves writing production code daily while making key architectural, infrastructure, and AI system decisions for the platform.
Responsibilities
Backend Architecture & Engineering: Design, build, and maintain a .NET 8.0 / C# backend using Clean Architecture and DDD principles. Own the architecture and codebase across 14+ independently deployed microservices. Deliver new features, refactor existing systems, and resolve performance bottlenecks.
AI Systems & LLM Orchestration: Design and operate production-grade AI pipelines, optimize prompts and workflows, and manage rate limits and cost efficiency across multiple LLM providers.
Databases & Data Infrastructure: Manage MySQL, Redis, and MongoDB, oversee caching, bulk writes, event streams, and maintain data consistency.
Infrastructure, Reliability & Monitoring: Own Linux-based infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, centralized logging, monitoring and uptime tracking to ensure system reliability.
API Integrations & System Resilience: Manage 25+ third-party API integrations, design retry and fallback strategies, and ensure system stability under external failures.
Team Leadership & Standards: Lead and mentor a small engineering team, set engineering standards, and collaborate with the founder on product and technical strategy.

You are a senior, hands-on engineer with deep expertise in .NET 8.0, C#, and distributed systems, experienced in AI systems at scale and leadership in a startup environment.
Required Experience & Skills
- Deep expertise in .NET 8.0, C#, ASP.NET Core
- Experience with distributed systems and microservices
- Strong experience with MySQL, Redis, and MongoDB
- Hands-on DevOps experience with Linux servers and CI/CD
- Proven background in building and operating AI/LLM systems
- Experience leading small engineering teams
- Strong English communication skills
Typical Day
Writing and reviewing production backend code, making architectural decisions, monitoring system health, mentoring team members through code reviews, and collaborating closely with the founder.
