Role Overview: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Join the Consumable and Automation Engineering team to transition manufacturing equipment from low volume to high volume production. You will design and select equipment involving optical, thermal, pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and electronic systems.

Goals

  • Review and recommend changes to current production equipment.
  • Develop testing equipment for consumable verification.
  • Design a laser welder pin and slot fixture for consistent processes.

How You Will Contribute

  • Design, develop, and test electromechanical production equipment and aids.
  • Collaborate with manufacturers to produce custom prototypes and final parts.
  • Select off-the-shelf equipment to meet production volume needs.
  • Create/manage drawings, bills of materials, and test data.
  • Execute FATs, SATs, and validation plans for equipment and control systems.
  • Develop work instructions, O&M manuals, and provide operator training.
  • Drive projects from concept to commissioning with validation testing.
  • Apply first principles mechanical analysis for design integrity and safety.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate user requirements.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proven record in designing and deploying automated production equipment.
  • Proficiency in DFM, FMEA, GD&T, and 3D CAD (SolidWorks a plus).

Additional Skills (a plus)

  • Experience with heat sealing or liquid filling equipment commissioning.
  • Knowledge in FDA regulated environments, PLC controls, and DOE methodology.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, ANSI, and NEC safety standards.
