About the Role

As the Principal Head of AI at Patagonia, you will lead the Data & Analytics team. With a focus on building AI strategy and capabilities, you will work cross-functionally to drive meaningful outcomes aligned with the company mission to save our home planet.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Create and drive a multi-year AI strategy that builds internal capabilities.
  • Develop a matrixed AI organization using machine learning and GenAI.
  • Enhance a data-powered culture across multiple business domains.
  • Drive technical platform requirements in collaboration with engineering and architecture teams.

What You’ll Do

Leadership and Team Development: Develop and nurture a high-performing AI team, guide analysts, set hiring standards, and build partnerships with consulting agencies.

Vision And Strategy: Oversee AI vision adoption across departments and align initiatives with business goals.

Products & Insights: Deliver insights and products that power key decisions using advanced analytical methods.

Strategic Guidance: Provide direction for advanced analytics efforts and identify growth opportunities.

Platform Development: Drive requirements for the AI platform, balancing value and cost.

Who You Are

You are strategic, dynamic, curious, collaborative, purpose-led and adaptable, with extensive experience in advanced analytics, data science, and AI leadership. You possess a strong analytical background and familiarity with retail and sustainability-focused analytics.

Experience & Skills

  • 10+ years in analytical modeling with relevant technical degrees.
  • Proven leadership in AI roles within consumer goods or sustainability sectors.
  • Experience in forecasting, NLP, image recognition, clustering, segmentation, and optimization.
  • Proficiency in Python, R or Julia and experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or Tensorflow.
  • Cloud experience with platforms like Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, Google or Azure.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with data pipeline tools and BI tools.

Compensation and Conduct

The hiring range for this full-time role is $195,000 to $225,000 USD annually. Patagonia values a positive, inclusive work environment and equal opportunity for all qualified applicants.
