Accounting Associate
Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounting Associate to join our team at a busy personal injury law firm. This role is critical in supporting the firm's financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of disbursements to clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounts Payable (A/P): Process all vendor invoices and expense reports, ensure proper coding and timely payments, and maintain accurate A/P records.
- Account Reconciliations: Reconcile bank accounts, trust ledgers, and operating accounts; investigate and resolve discrepancies.
- Settlement Disbursements: Issue and process final settlement disbursement checks to clients, manage correspondence and documentation, and ensure compliance with trust accounting rules.
- Reporting & Support: Assist the Accounting Manager and Disbursement Coordinator with audits, reporting, and special projects while maintaining up-to-date financial records for case closings.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role; law firm experience is a plus.
- Associate's Degree.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of legal trust accounting or interest in learning.
