Job Description
NOTE: Due to government environments this team supports, the role requires a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
As a Principal DevOps Engineer (Cortex Observability) on the Cortex team, you will design, build, and maintain the infrastructure and automation for our large-scale cloud platform. This involves collaborating with engineering teams to optimize system performance and implement best practices in cloud provisioning, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines.
Your Impact
- Cloud Infrastructure: Architect, deploy, and manage scalable cloud-native solutions in GCP.
- Automation & Infrastructure as Code: Develop IaC with Terraform, Ansible, and promote GitOps.
- CI/CD Pipelines: Build and optimize pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar tools.
- Containerization & Orchestration: Deploy, manage containerized workloads using Kubernetes and Docker.
- Monitoring & Optimization: Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting to resolve issues proactively.
- Security & Compliance: Ensure adherence to security best practices across deployments.
- Collaboration: Integrate DevOps practices by working closely with development teams.
- On-Call Support: Participate in rotation to maintain platform reliability.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps/SRE/Cloud Infrastructure roles
- BS or MS in Computer Science or related field
- Expertise in GCP (preferred) or AWS
- Proficiency in Terraform, Ansible, and GitOps practices
- Strong scripting skills in Python, Go, or Bash
- Experience with Kubernetes (GKE preferred) and Docker
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins or GitLab CI
- Solid Linux administration and networking fundamentals
- Ability to troubleshoot high-scale production issues

The DevOps team is central to Cortex’s cloud infrastructure, ensuring reliable software delivery and operational efficiency.
Compensation Disclosure
Salary for this position is expected between $147,000 and $237,500 per year, plus potential bonuses and RSUs, based on qualifications and experience.
