Overview
The Assistant Vice President, Protection Pricing at Pacific Life Re plays a crucial role in executing the North American protection pricing strategy. Working under the VP, Protection Pricing, this role is responsible for leading key aspects of pricing development and ensuring the delivery of technically sound and commercially competitive solutions.
The Role and Responsibilities
Pricing Execution & Oversight:
- Lead development and execution of pricing models.
- Oversee timely delivery of pricing terms and papers.
- Ensure compliance with pricing frameworks and risk policies.
Strategic Contribution & Market Insight:
- Support VP with analytical insights and recommendations.
- Monitor client requirements, regulations, and market trends.
- Refine pricing bases and methodologies using superior data sources.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Collaborate with Client Solutions, Claims, Underwriting, and R&D.
- Facilitate effective communication with Finance, Actuarial, and Operations teams.
- Contribute technical expertise in client engagements and presentations.
Leadership & Talent Development:
- Mentor junior pricing professionals and foster team growth.
- Drive a collaborative and innovative pricing culture.
- Assist in performance evaluations and succession planning.
Qualifications & Experience
A minimum of 10 years in life (re)insurance pricing, expertise in North American Protection markets, actuarial pricing techniques, financial modelling, and risk assessment. Detailed knowledge in Long-Term Care modelling and relevant capital bases is highly desirable. Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills are required.
