Associate Scientist I (Microbiology) at Pace Labs

This is a full-time Microbiology Associate Scientist I position located in Lebanon, NJ, Monday - Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Summary

The Associate Scientist I is responsible for providing or overseeing the analysis, administration, and oversight of standard microbiology/biology policies, programs and practices. The role involves fundamental analysis of samples using a core knowledge of microbiology/biology, testing instruments and procedures.

Essential Functions

  • Perform fundamental analysis using standard analytical instrumentation.
  • Review, analyze, interpret, and document testing results.
  • Oversee, complete, and process microbiology/biology forms, documents, and databases.
  • Provide guidance to staff and management regarding microbiology policies.
  • Analyze trends and present proposals and recommendations.
  • Ensure accuracy through audits, queries, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Maintain and calibrate equipment, samples, and testing areas.
  • Interpret and apply department policies and relevant laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with teams for efficient service delivery.
  • Promote a harmonious workplace environment in support of Pace Labs' mission.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in microbiology/biology, or a closely related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Understanding of fundamental principles and practices in microbiology/biology.
  • Familiarity with aseptic techniques and standard testing tools.
  • Experience in administering and overseeing laboratory processes.
  • Ability to interpret and apply microbiology/biology laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Proficiency with computer applications and systems related to lab work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication in business English.
  • Effective team collaboration and independent judgment within guidelines.

Physical/Mental Requirements

Must have mobility to work in both lab and office settings, use standard equipment, and have the stamina for extended periods of sitting as well as lifting objects up to 40-50 pounds as required.

Working Environment

Work is performed in a lab and office setting, subject to chemicals, fumes, and noxious odors. The role requires adherence to safety standards in such environments.
