About the role
Job Description Overview
We are seeking a Junior Data Analyst to support our Data Operations team through managing helpdesk requests, performing root cause analysis (RCA), and maintaining clear, accurate documentation. This role is ideal for an early-career analyst who enjoys problem-solving, working with stakeholders, and building a strong foundation in analytics and data operations.
The ideal candidate brings a customer-service mindset, basic T-SQL skills, and experience or interest in Power BI and/or Microsoft Fabric, along with a desire to learn and grow in a data-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Data Operations Helpdesk Support
- Serve as a first point of contact for helpdesk inquiries, responding to stakeholders with professionalism, clarity, and urgency
- Troubleshoot data issues related to reports, dashboards, pipelines, and data quality
- Escalate complex issues appropriately and collaborate with senior analysts or engineers
Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- Investigate data issues to identify root causes
- Analyze data discrepancies, reporting issues, and refresh failures
- Document findings and recommend corrective or preventive actions
- Assist in implementing process improvements to reduce future incidents
Documentation & Knowledge Management
- Create and maintain clear documentation for data processes and known issues
- Contribute to knowledge base articles and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Ensure documentation is current, accurate, and accessible to stakeholders
Data & Reporting Support
- Create and modify T-SQL queries for data validation and analysis
- Assist with Power BI and/or Microsoft Fabric reports, datasets, and semantic models
- Support report testing, validation, and deployment activities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Basic T-SQL experience (e.g., SELECT statements, joins, filters, simple aggregations)
- Strong customer service orientation with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and a structured approach to problem-solving
- Ability to manage multiple requests and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Prior experience in a helpdesk, support, or operations role
- Familiarity with ticketing systems (e.g., Jira, Salesforce)
- Experience documenting processes or creating user-facing documentation
- Basic understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL/ELT processes
- Exposure to Power BI and/or Microsoft Fabric (academic, internship, or professional)
