Job Overview
The Legal Assistant Employment & Labour role is a maternity leave contract (until Fall 2027) in the Employment & Labour Department. The successful candidate will proactively manage a fast-paced legal practice for multiple Legal Professionals, enhancing practice efficiency with top-grade administrative support, multitasking, and proactive client service. Experience in Employment & Labour law is preferred.
Major Responsibilities
- Manage legal professionals' inboxes and calendar scheduling.
- Coordinate appointments, meetings, travel arrangements, and document production.
- Act as the point of contact for clients and stakeholders.
- Administer client accounts including time charges, billing, and invoice preparation.
- Support client development and file setup processes.
- Coordinate document workflow and prepare for audit inquiries.
- Perform other duties as required to meet firm objectives.
Position Requirements
A Community College diploma in Office, Legal or Business Administration plus a minimum of five years’ experience in a professional services or legal environment is required. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience are considered.

- Excellent attention to detail with strong written and verbal communication
- Strong technical skills (MS Office Suite)
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Proactivity and ability to adapt to changing priorities
- Teamwork and independence
- Familiarity with legal procedures and document drafting/proofreading
Compensation & Work Arrangement
The expected compensation is in the range of $65,000 to $80,000 annually. This role is hybrid with a requirement to work primarily in the office and the option to work remotely up to 2 days per week.
