The Role

Orum's Engineering team is crucial in advancing this vision. As a remote-first company since its inception, we are committed to solving the most challenging problems faced by sales teams, with substantial room for innovation and development.

As a Software Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing and developing critical product features that drive Orum’s high-performance platform. You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, and fellow Engineers to deliver seamless, impactful user experiences at scale. Our technology stack includes Node.js, TypeScript, React, Ruby, PostgreSQL, Google Cloud Platform, and FreeSWITCH.

What You’ll Do

• Own key product features from initial concept and discovery through implementation, deployment, and ongoing iteration.
• Design and build scalable systems, with a focus on approximately 70% backend and 30% frontend development, supporting real-time, high-volume workflows. This includes tasks such as routing calls with our event-driven SIP Softswitch or processing audio streams for advanced speech recognition.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Managers, Designers, and other Engineers to craft intuitive and high-performing experiences. Your insights and feedback will directly influence our product roadmap, as we value engineering, product, and design contributions equally.
• Write clean, maintainable, and thoroughly tested code while actively contributing to team-wide standards that uphold reliability, scalability, and clarity across our codebase.
• Continuously expand your knowledge and skills by engaging with teammates, sharing expertise, and adopting industry best practices throughout the entire technology stack.

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Demonstrated experience in building applications using JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Hands-on experience with relational databases (RDBMS) and SQL.
• Proven capability to take ownership of features from end-to-end and effectively collaborate with cross-functional partners.
• A strong commitment to developing simple, maintainable, and well-tested code.
