About the Position
The Undergraduate Research Assistant Flood Risk Mapping role at Orchestrate Consulting Group is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in applied climate risk analysis and environmental studies. This position involves using advanced GIS tools and data science techniques to contribute to impactful research on urban flooding and environmental inequity.
What To Expect
Job Responsibilities:
- Search and compile flood risk data across Baltimore.
- Utilize GIS tools to map flood risk factors.
- Integrate flood modeling results into research findings.
- Collaborate with a research team in climate science.
- Assist in developing a flood risk map highlighting vulnerable areas.
Qualifications
Required: Interest or experience in climate science, environmental studies, or data science. Prior experience with QGIS or ArcGIS, basic coding skills, ability to work independently and in a team, and availability for approximately 4 hours/week over 8 weeks.
Preferred: Previous experience in risk analysis or environmental research, familiarity with data visualization techniques, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, passion for addressing climate change, and effective communication skills.
