About the Role: Leadership and Innovation Advisor
Orbis International is seeking an experienced Leadership and Innovation Advisor to join the Women Leaders in Eye Health (WLEH) initiative. This 7-month remote consultancy, starting August 1st, 2026, focuses on integrating the AMPLIF-EYE mentorship and leadership program with the WLEH Fellowship and Innovations Fund. You will serve as a strategic bridge, guiding participants from learning and mentorship development to funding opportunities within an incubator-to-accelerator framework.
Program Overview
The WLEH initiative is a global partnership committed to gender equity and leadership advancement in eye health. In 2026, it will implement two key programs: AMPLIF-EYE (a mentorship and leadership Training-of-Trainers program) and the WLEH Fellowship and Innovations Fund (providing financial support for advanced training and innovations). AMPLIF-EYE acts as an incubator for ideas, while the Fellowship and Innovations Fund accelerates their implementation.
Objective of the Consultancy
The primary objective is to support the design, delivery, and seamless integration of AMPLIF-EYE with the Fellowship and Innovations Fund. You will guide participants in transitioning from learning to implementation and potential funding, fostering an innovative, inclusive environment.
Scope of Work
A. AMPLIF-EYE – Mentorship and Leadership Incubator
- Finalize and deliver a virtual mentorship and leadership curriculum using adult learning and gender-transformative methodologies.
- Facilitate interactive virtual Training-of-Trainers sessions for mid-career women in eye health.
- Provide coaching to help participants develop impactful mentorship or leadership initiatives aligned with WLEH values.
- Support participants in refining innovation-aligned project ideas with potential for scale or replication.
B. Fellowship and Innovations Fund – Impact Accelerator
- Assist in a transparent selection process for the Fellowship and Innovations Fund.
- Provide technical input to assess the alignment, feasibility, and leadership impact of proposed initiatives.
- Support awardees in strengthening learning outcomes and institutional impact.
C. Bridging and Embedded Pipeline Role
- Act as the connective link between AMPLIF-EYE and the Fellowship and Innovations Fund.
- Mature pre-identified project ideas during the program, ensuring alignment with WLEH values and scalability.
- Encourage participants with strong project ideas to apply for the Fellowship/Innovations Fund.
- Ensure coherence between timelines, participant selection, training, project implementation, and funding support.
Key Deliverables
- A finalized AMPLIF-EYE mentorship and leadership curriculum with training materials.
- Delivery of virtual Training-of-Trainers (ToT) sessions.
- Ongoing group-based and individual coaching support.
- Support for the Fellowship and Innovations Fund selection process.
- Technical input for application assessments.
- Follow-up support to selected awardees.
- A final integrated impact report documenting learnings and outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree in public health, international development, education, gender studies, or a related field.
- Proven experience delivering leadership or mentorship Training-of-Trainers programs, ideally in low- and middle-income countries.
- Experience with capacity-building programs and grant/fellowship mechanisms.
- Strong understanding of gender-transformative programming and mentorship.
- Experience facilitating virtual learning and adult education programs.
- Demonstrated capacity for coaching, follow-up, and impact reflection.
