This involves demonstrating strong technical and business input to prioritize crucial work and ensure Oracle remains at the forefront of database innovation.

Ideal Background

  • Proficiency in cloud-native architectures across major platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), particularly with managed RDBMS services.
  • Ability to read and understand various coding languages such as C or C++.
  • Bonus: Experience in a Chief Architect or Technical Advisor capacity within fast-paced, matrixed organizations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Expertise in data modeling (OLTP and OLAP) and robust SQL/query optimization.
  • Practical experience with high availability, replication, disaster recovery, and comprehensive backup strategies.
  • A nuanced understanding of NoSQL versus RDBMS trade-offs for broader architectural context.
  • Proven experience with database migration strategies, such as Oracle to PostgreSQL, or on-premise to cloud transitions.
Strategic & Architectural Thinking
  • Experience in designing sophisticated data architectures for enterprise-scale applications.
  • Familiarity with data governance, data lineage, and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Demonstrated ability to assess technology decisions and align them with overarching business objectives.
  • Comfort in evaluating build-versus-buy scenarios and vendor solutions.
Chief of Staff Skills
  • Acts as a force multiplier for the CTO or Chief Architect, amplifying their strategic impact.
  • Capable of leading complex initiatives and coordinating effectively across multiple technical teams.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, producing both executive-level summaries and detailed technical documentation.
  • Strong cross-functional influence, collaborating effectively with engineering, operations, product, and customer-facing teams.
  • Exemplary skills in prioritization, project planning, and thorough follow-through.
Leadership & Soft Skills
  • Serves as a trusted advisor to senior technology leaders.
  • Adept at mentoring engineers and driving organizational alignment without direct authority.
