Overview

The Technical Leadership Advisor Oracle Database role at Oracle requires a blend of technical expertise and strategic business insights to drive the future state of Oracle's database offerings. This role is focused on enhancing Oracle's database technology in an era of Agentic AI.

Ideal Background

Candidates should have 10–20+ years of experience in software engineering, database administration, or data architecture roles. Prior experience as a Principal Engineer, Database Architect, Data Platform Lead, or Engineering Manager on data-heavy systems is essential. Experience with cloud-native architectures (AWS/GCP/Azure) and proficiency in reading languages like C or C++ are important. Experience in a Chief Architect or Technical Advisor role is a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Expertise: Deep hands-on experience with major RDBMS platforms including Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, DB2, and newer cloud-native options like Amazon Aurora or Azure SQL.
  • Database Performance: Experience in database architecture, performance tuning, OLTP/OLAP data modeling, SQL/query optimization, high availability, replication, disaster recovery, and backup strategies.
  • Strategic & Architectural Thinking: Designing enterprise-scale data architectures; knowledge of data governance, data lineage, and compliance standards such as GDPR and HIPAA.
  • Chief of Staff Skills: Act as a force multiplier for senior leaders, coordinate across technical teams, and produce executive-level documentation.
  • Leadership & Soft Skills: Serve as a trusted advisor, mentor team members, facilitate meetings, and handle sensitive decisions with discretion.
