Job Description

About the Role: Senior Manager of Data Center Development at Oracle

The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Data Center Development team is at the forefront of designing and delivering Oracle’s next-generation global data center portfolio. We are actively seeking a Senior Manager of Data Center Development to lead the planning, design, and coordination of complex data center projects across our expanding worldwide footprint.

This pivotal position demands a blend of deep technical expertise and strong leadership, requiring a comprehensive understanding across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, architectural, and structural disciplines. The ideal candidate will bring proven experience in mechanical and liquid cooling design, with the capability to guide engineering and architectural partners through highly technical discussions, ensuring design intent fully aligns with OCI’s stringent performance, reliability, and and scalability standards.

As a Senior Manager, you will be responsible for leading a dedicated team of design managers, fostering collaboration with internal stakeholders and external consultants. You will provide critical technical oversight from initial concept development through to construction documentation, playing an instrumental role in ensuring Oracle’s facilities achieve the highest benchmarks of innovation, efficiency, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the comprehensive end-to-end design process for both new and retrofit data center projects.
  • Lead multidisciplinary design coordination across MEP, architectural, and structural systems for all data center projects.
  • Provide strategic and technical leadership throughout all project design phases, from early conceptual development to final construction documentation.
  • Drive critical mechanical and liquid cooling design discussions, ensuring direct alignment with OCI’s performance and operational goals.
  • Coordinate directly with diverse internal teams, including Construction, Operations, Network, and Capacity Planning, to ensure all design requirements are thoroughly integrated.
  • Manage consultant engagement, precise scope definition, and ensure the quality of deliverables for all design packages (BOD, SD, DD, IFC).
  • Proactively identify design risks, effectively manage cross-discipline conflicts, and resolve issues that could impact project performance or schedule.
  • Oversee and mentor design managers and junior staff, fostering consistent quality output and promoting professional growth within the team.
  • Support the continuous development and refinement of OCI’s global design standards and best practices.
  • Represent the design organization in key internal and external design coordination meetings, reviews, and workshops.

Required Qualifications

  • Professional licensure: Registered Architect (RA) or Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Accredited degree in Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical, or Structural Engineering.
  • Strong preference for candidates with direct mechanical and liquid cooling design experience.
  • 8+ years of experience managing data center, mission-critical, or large-scale infrastructure design and development.
  • Proven experience in managing multidisciplinary teams and external consultants effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of data center MEP systems, architectural coordination, and structural integration.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with design and permitting workflows, as well as construction delivery processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of data center design standards and industry codes (ASHRAE, NFPA, Uptime, IBC).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading design efforts for hyperscale or cloud infrastructure projects.
  • Working knowledge of Revit/BIM coordination and document management systems (e.g., Autodesk Construction Cloud, Newforma).
  • LEED AP, Uptime ATD, or similar certifications.
  • Experience managing global or multi-region project portfolios.
