Role Overview: Senior Director Colocation Infrastructure Construction Delivery
As the Senior Director of Colocation Infrastructure Construction Delivery, you will be at the forefront of shaping the future of our data infrastructure. Your leadership will be pivotal in driving the strategic vision for our data center projects, ensuring they align with our long-term organizational goals. You will lead a dynamic team of professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence. Your role will involve not only overseeing the successful execution of complex construction projects but also inspiring your team to push the boundaries of what's possible in data center design and construction.
Travel will be required and could be 50% or more at times. This is a remote/work-from-home position.
Strategic Responsibilities
Strategically, you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive plans that optimize efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and operational excellence in delivery. You will engage with key stakeholders, manage high-stakes vendor relationships, and navigate the complexities of regulatory compliance. Your ability to anticipate and mitigate risks will be crucial in maintaining project timelines and budgets. Key Responsibilities Include:
- Review and understand complex data center construction projects executed by colocation lease providers, analyzing risk profiles and collaborating with providers to mitigate.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement long-term standards and strategies for data center colocation construction projects to ensure delivery certainty aligned with organizational goals.
- This team’s role will focus on the base building and MEP infrastructure portions of the project, coordinating with DCIB teams for tenant fit-out data hall white space projects.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of project managers, engineers, and construction professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Project Oversight: Lead and manage construction oversight of data centers by colocation providers, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Schedule Management: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, coordinating with colocation providers for timely delivery of milestones.
- Risk Evaluation: Independently analyze projects to evaluate risk profiles associated with timely delivery, address gaps in risk identification and mitigation, and inform the business of potential impacts.
- Tenant Fit Out Integration: Work closely throughout design, construction, and commissioning to fully coordinate and integrate separate scope tenant fit-out projects with DCIB teams.
- Quality Assurance: Implement and oversee quality control processes, ensuring all construction activities meet design specifications and industry standards.
- Design Coordination: Collaborate with design teams to ensure construction activities align with approved design plans and specifications.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact between Oracle and colocation providers, facilitating clear and effective communication.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies for project success.
- Compliance: Ensure all construction activities comply with relevant regulations, codes, and standards.
- Provide ongoing colocation Provider evaluation input for continuous improvement.
- Regular project visits to ensure schedule, coordination, and quality will be required throughout the project life.
- Innovation and Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, incorporating innovative solutions to enhance data center performance and sustainability.
- Attend meetings held in various time zones to support live engagement and international projects.
Required Skills Include:
- Heavy knowledge of base building data center construction – civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, controls, and plumbing.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex challenges in a fast-paced environment.
- Strategic Planning: Strong skills in developing and implementing long-term strategies and establishing program-level requirements.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of data center design, construction, and operational requirements.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in construction project management, with a focus on data center or colocation infrastructure, either for a general contractor, colocation provider, or hyperscaler.
- Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale construction projects.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, quality control, and design coordination.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
