Oracle Hospitality is actively developing the next-generation, cloud-native, mobile-enabled hotel management enterprise application, OPERA Cloud, designed to empower customers in the hospitality industry to deliver exceptional service and guest experiences. Our rapidly expanding team is seeking top-tier talent to join our Oracle Innovation Award-winning group.

We are looking for a Software Developer to join the Hospitality Global Business Unit’s R&D Team. The ideal candidate will be an innovative self-starter, capable of working as an Individual Contributor while meeting industry standards for frontend web application development. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams, including DevOps and Product, and requires a passion for developing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise-grade applications.

As an automation evangelist, you will be results-driven and dedicated to delivering high-quality products and solutions for major hospitality companies.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform professional software development tasks related to developing, designing, and debugging modern web applications and backend services.
• Execute moderately complex problem-solving, with guidance on company policies and processes.
• Write efficient, maintainable, and testable code.
• Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills, alongside excellent relationship-building competencies.
• Comfortably work independently while also collaborating efficiently with team members.

Ideal Experience

• 5+ years of hands-on data engineering experience, specializing in data ingestion, transformation, and scalable ETL/ELT pipeline development.
• Strong exposure to cloud-native object storage (e.g., AWS S3, Oracle Cloud Object Storage, Azure Blob Storage) and large-scale data lake platforms (such as OCI Data Lake, AWS Lake Formation, Apache Hudi).
• Proficient in building real-time and batch data ingestion pipelines using tools like Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Streaming, Apache Kafka, or AWS Kinesis.
• Advanced programming/scripting skills in Python, Java, or Scala for data pipeline implementation and automation.
• Substantial experience with distributed data processing frameworks, notably Apache Spark, Databricks, Google Dataflow, or Flink.
• Familiarity with both relational (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL/document databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB).
• Proven ability to develop, validate, and deploy supervised and unsupervised models using modern data science toolkits (Python, R, scikit-learn, Pandas, TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.).
• Strong skills in data wrangling, feature engineering, statistical analysis, and data visualization.
• Experience using orchestration tools like Apache Airflow, Luigi, or managed cloud orchestration solutions.
• Experience utilizing technologies like Delta Lake or Apache Iceberg to build reliable data lakehouse architectures.
• Proven ability to optimize, monitor, and troubleshoot performance for large-scale data workflows and pipelines in cloud environments.
• Sound understanding of data modeling concepts and data warehousing, with exposure to platforms such as Redshift, ADW, or BigQuery.
• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud-native deployment techniques.
• Strong knowledge of security and compliance best practices related to enterprise data management.
• Proficiency with version control (Git) and DevOps practices as applied to data engineering workflows.
• Solid grasp of software engineering principles and design patterns in context with data systems.
• Strong technical acumen, problem-solving abilities, and interpersonal collaboration skills.

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, and networks. As a member of the software engineering division, you will assist in defining and developing software for tasks associated with the developing, debugging, or designing of software applications or operating systems. This role involves providing technical leadership to other software developers and specifying, designing, and implementing modest changes to existing software architecture to meet evolving needs. Duties and tasks are varied and complex, requiring independent judgment. The ideal candidate will be fully competent in their area of expertise. May have a project lead role and/or supervise lower-level personnel. A BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to the functional area is required, along with 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
