About the Role
As a Linux/Solaris Systems Administrator at Oracle, you will join the Support organization, focusing on delivering crucial post-sales support and technical solutions to Oracle's customer base. Your primary responsibility involves resolving moderately complex technical issues related to the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Oracle products and platforms. This role requires you to be a primary point of contact for customers, facilitating strong relationships with the Support team, and offering advice to internal Oracle employees on diverse customer situations and escalated concerns.
You will work as an Advanced Support Engineer, regularly interfacing with customer IT staff, either remotely or at client sites. You'll operate with general guidance from management, providing status updates, and may take on project lead roles. The position demands independent judgment, exceptional communication skills, and a consistent ability to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver post-sales support and technical solutions to Oracle customers.
- Serve as an advocate for customer needs, resolving non-technical and technical inquiries.
- Act as a primary point of contact, facilitating customer relationships with Support.
- Provide advice and assistance to internal Oracle employees on customer situations and escalated issues.
- Resolve moderately complex technical problems related to installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Oracle products.
- Interface regularly with customer IT staff, either on-site or remotely.
- Work with general guidance, advising management on progress and status.
- Utilize independent judgment for varied and complex job duties; may have project lead role.
- Maintain exceptional communication skills to ensure high customer satisfaction.
- Administer Solaris/Linux Servers with 7+ years of experience.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of Supercluster, Exadata, M8-8 Server administration, patching, and performance tuning.
- Handle PDOM/LDOM configuration and ZFS patching/configuration.
- Perform Oracle PCA patching and administration.
- Lead project delivery for Oracle Engineered Systems like Exadata and ZDLRA, including hardware landscape and capacity planning.
- Troubleshoot any system components within Oracle Engineered Systems.
- Administer Oracle Kubernetes.
- Be ready and experienced to work in a 24x7 environment.
- Implement, enforce, and adhere to Disaster Recovery plans.
- Ensure Engineering System Standards and Controls are maintained.
- Provide 3rd and 4th level support for complex Oracle Engineering Systems issues.
- Participate in customer-driven projects.
- Perform implementation, management, support lifecycle management, monitoring, and compliance for Engineering Systems.
- Enable customers to leverage Engineering Systems Appliance features.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience in Solaris/Linux Server administration.
- In-depth knowledge of Supercluster, Exadata, M8-8 Server administration, patching, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with PDOM/LDOM configuration and ZFS patching/configuration.
- Proficiency in Oracle PCA patching and administration.
- Proven experience in project delivery for Oracle Engineered Systems (Exadata, ZDLRA).
- Familiarity with Oracle Kubernetes administration.
- Ability to work in a 24x7 environment.
- Strong understanding of Disaster Recovery planning and implementation.
- Exceptional communication skills and a strong customer service orientation.
