Overview
The GenAI PhD Applied Scientist role at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is intended for recent or soon-to-be PhD graduates with a focus on machine learning and deep learning. The position is fully in office at our Seattle, WA or Redwood Shores, CA hub with a target start date of early-June or mid-July 2026.

You will join a team of researchers and inventors building massive-scale cloud services at the intersection of generative AI and cloud infrastructure.
The Team
At OCI, you will join the Oracle Generative AI Service team that delivers innovative cloud services powered by advanced machine learning techniques. The team focuses on large language models (LLMs), multimodal models, scalable AI training systems, and more.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement scalable AI model training systems.
- Collaborate with product managers and global teams from research to production.
- Design and review generative AI architectures including data, model and evaluation pipelines.
- Lead and mentor machine learning engineers.
- Develop production code adhering to best practices.
What You’ll Bring
Applicants should have a PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Linguistics or a related field with a focus on Machine Learning and Deep Learning, be familiar with LLM frameworks and generative AI technologies, and have hands-on experience with cutting-edge machine learning practices. A strong publication record and ability to obtain US work authorization are required.
