Data Center Technician at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Hardware installation & configuration of enterprise servers and cabling infrastructure.
  • Rack installation including racking of components, putting racks in place, cabling, power up and handoff of servers to internal provisioning teams.
  • Rack deinstallation including power off, removal of cabling, removal of rack components.
  • Hardware Break/Fix replacement of FRUs.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving Telco Connectivity issues.
  • Troubleshoot & Replace Network Switch equipment.
  • Communicating within a ticketing environment that is used and supervised by multiple internal Oracle Cloud service owners and teams.
  • Documentation of activities and building/modifying SOPs.
  • Structured cabling, labeling, and troubleshooting of fiber/copper/telecom cables.
  • Executing small projects independently and collaborating with your manager on planning and executing larger local projects.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of server/storage/network hardware.
  • Strong interest in learning new Data Center concepts.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strict attention to detail.
  • Quality assurance mindset.
  • Ability to cover a shift schedule that may include weekends and holidays.
  • 3+ years working in an IT environment.
  • Inventory management experience, including ordering, receiving, and shipping server parts.
  • Experience taking on-call shifts and ability to respond to critical events as needed.
  • Experience raising issues to senior onsite staff and management as needed.
  • IT Hardware Concepts knowledge (RAID, SAN, SCSI, Linux/Unix, GRUB).
  • Knowledge of trunk infrastructure is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2-year or 4-year degree or 3+ Years of experience.
  • 1 year+ experience in Structured Cabling Copper/Fiber, testing of cables.
  • Understanding of Cooling and Electrical systems concepts inside the data center.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, remove, and address technical hardware issues in data center racks without disturbing other hardware and critical infrastructure on site.
  • Maintain asset inventory and update internal applications as needed.
  • Be accessible via cell phone and willing to work on onsite emergencies as needed.
  • Participate in and complete training that aligns with corporate objectives to bridge skill gaps and learn new relevant technologies.
  • Act within Service Level Agreements (SLA) on the tickets assigned to you in your space.
