Overview of the Data Center Manager Role at Oracle
We are seeking an experienced leader with strong people management skills, business acumen, and well-rounded IT technical abilities to lead teams responsible for building and supporting Oracle's cloud data centers.
This role provides strong leadership, direction, and operational experience, requiring deep knowledge of computer hardware including servers, storage, and networking devices. You will drive and manage escalations to rapid resolution, work with distributed teams across the country, and grow the team by recruiting top talent. A key responsibility is delivering expansion projects on time with high quality and collaborating effectively with best-in-class architects, engineers, and product management.
This is a Career Level - M2 position.
Responsibilities
The Data Center Manager role involves managing the physical site. You should be experienced in managing a multi-disciplined Cloud Data Center space with strong people skills, the ability to influence groups outside your direct responsibility, and interact with co-location partners.
This multi-faceted management role includes:
- Management and support of 15-20 Data Center Technicians.
- Data Center day-to-day support operations in a 24/7 mission-critical environment.
- Overseeing installation, Field Change Orders, and Hardware break/fix activity.
- Ensuring timely delivery of services and tasks to meet milestones and customer KPIs.
- Interacting across functional areas and teams such as Engineering, Build, Site Selection, and Business Operations.
- Reacting to and managing incidents, driving resolution, and conducting after-action analysis.
- Managing capacity expansion at all scales, including rack additions, block additions, white space growth, and new sites.
- Driving local recruitment for future hires.
- Creating an environment of continuous improvement.
