What You’ll Do as an Advanced Degree Software Engineer Intern

As an Advanced Degree Software Engineer Intern, you will apply your software development knowledge to manage tasks involved in developing, debugging, or designing enterprise-class software applications. Working within a successful agile product development team, you will support, debug, and provide solutions, participating in initiatives to analyze root causes of issues and recommend suitable, time-sensitive solutions.

This role is ideal for those who enjoy solving enterprise-grade cloud services problems and are firm believers in solving complex challenges through code. Our product code spans all layers of complex multi-tier distributed environments.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Objective Minimum Qualifications

To be considered for this Software Engineer internship position in Applications Development, you must meet the following Objective Minimum Qualifications (OMQs). Please ensure your application clearly indicates these qualifications, either on your resume or via additional documents like a transcript:

• Must be enrolled in a Master's degree program in Computer Science or an equivalent science/engineering field during the 2025-2026 school year.
• Must be enrolled in a university prior to and following internship completion.
• Able to obtain work authorization in the US in 2026.
• Reside in the United States and/or attend a university in the US.
• Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. (Oracle cannot offer US immigration sponsorship now or in the future for H-1B, TN, O-1, green card, F-1 e.g. EAD, OPT, CPT, I-20, F-1 visa stamp, etc.)
• Proficient (able to complete coding projects with no assistance) in Java.
• Proficient (able to complete coding projects with no assistance) in one or more of these additional programming languages: Python, JavaScript, CSS, HTML, SQL, Scala.
• Demonstrated experience (projects, internships, coursework, research) with one or more of the following: Android and/or iOS mobile application development, Unix and/or Linux Operating Systems, Big Data tools/frameworks (e.g., Spark, Hive, Hadoop, MapReduce, Kafka).
• Completed coursework, projects, internships, and/or research in 3 or more of the following: Algorithms and Data Structures, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Database, Machine Learning, Object-Oriented Programming, Operating Systems, Software Programming, Web Development, Micro-Services Architecture, Container Architectures (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), User Interface Design.
• Experience with XML, JSON, node.js, javascript, REST APIs.
• Completed at least one internship, research assistantship, teaching assistantship, or equivalent practical experience working with relevant technical areas.
