About the Role

The Registered Nurse for Pulmonology provides professional nursing care to patients through direct and telephone contact, adhering to established standards. You will coordinate with the care team for seamless care delivery, assist physicians with clinical procedures, perform telephone triage, and conduct patient teaching. Your role is crucial in ensuring patients receive comprehensive and patient-centered care.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate clinical competence in direct patient care, considering developmental differences.
  • Possess basic knowledge of common disease processes, treatments, and preventative health measures.
  • Utilize a proactive approach to patient care, addressing individual and family needs promptly.
  • Employ evidence-based approaches to support patient self-management and health behavior change.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team members to set goals and priorities.
  • Contribute to the assessment and management of assigned patient populations' health needs.
  • Perform telephone triage, emphasizing assessment, problem identification, and decision-making.
  • Administer medications and treatments accurately, with knowledge of dosage, route, and side effects.
  • Provide accurate clinical information to patients within the scope of professional nursing practice.
  • Perform authorized technical procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, IVs, and selected lab tests.
  • Seek guidance from physicians or colleagues when necessary.
