Optum is seeking a dedicated Clinical Administrative Coordinator to join their team. This National Remote position offers the flexibility to telecommute from anywhere within the U.S. You will play a crucial role in connecting people with the care, pharmacy benefits, data, and resources they need to live healthier lives, directly improving health outcomes.

About the Role

This is a full-time, 40 hours/week position, typically Monday through Friday. Employees need flexibility to work any 8-hour shift between 10:00 am and 8:00 pm CST. Overtime may be required during the first 6 weeks of the year, with occasional Saturdays. Paid on-the-job training will be provided from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm CST, Monday - Friday.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for providers and members regarding medical, pharmacy, or clinical services and benefits.
  • Review and process fax and electronic referral requests for medical or clinical services.
  • Enter medical request data accurately into the relevant computer system.
  • Respond to and transfer inbound calls using the phone system to appropriate individuals.
  • Access electronic member files in external portals using correct patient identification.
  • Review benefits and authorization requirements, create pharmacy test claims, and determine patient responsibility.
  • Verify procedure codes against notification requirements and benefit coverage to determine next steps.
  • Utilize job aid tools to identify and follow appropriate procedures.
  • Document, review, and interpret historical patient documentation (e.g., MAR, H&P).
  • Navigate between multiple computer screens and platforms to research necessary information.
  • Stay updated on computer system and process changes, incorporating them into daily tasks.
  • Participate in team meetings and share relevant patient information.
  • Contact internal resources to clarify information as needed.
  • Identify and connect requesters with appropriate resources (doctors, providers, etc.).
  • Provide and explain benefit information to providers and patients.
  • Obtain necessary verbal and written consent (PSA) from patients.
  • Collect patient pay portions upon admission to services.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure complete patient onboarding.
  • Inform members/providers of the status of requests (notification, authorization).
  • Perform patient onboarding tasks within Cloud workflow and approved turnaround times.
  • Update and add prescribers during the onboarding process.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED or equivalent work experience.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • 2+ years of experience analyzing and solving customer problems.
  • 2+ years of experience in the Health Care Industry.
  • Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week), Monday - Friday, with flexibility for 8-hour shifts between 10:00 am - 8:00 pm CST.
  • Ability to work required overtime in the first 6 weeks of the year and occasional Saturdays.

  • Experience with Health Care Insurance.

Compensation and Benefits

Pay ranges from $17.98 - $32.12 per hour, based on factors like local labor markets, education, experience, and certifications. Optum offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase, and 401k contributions (subject to eligibility). All benefits are subject to eligibility requirements.
