What You'll Do
Our AI Operations team ensures that the services underpinning our AI stack operate efficiently and reliably across the globe. To support Optiver’s growing AI program, we’re looking for a motivated AI Operations Engineer to join our team in Sydney. You’ll help architect, implement and monitor deployments of our AI platform to enable safe and effective deployments of agents.
As an AI Operations Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Deploying and maintaining 3rd party and in-house containerised components of our AI platform.
- Architecting, building, and maintaining systems that drive efficiency and support Optiver’s evolving needs.
- Ensuring system reliability by swiftly resolving incidents and optimising performance to meet business demands.
- Researching and implementing new technologies or building enhanced in-house solutions to improve performance and system stability.
- Ensuring we maintain & monitor system health with performance metrics and observability tools.
- Joining our rotating support and roster to facilitate operations.
Who You Are
- Experience in Linux engineering, container orchestration debugging, administration, and OS system provisioning.
- A solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, TCP/UDP/multicast, and packet analysis.
- Hands-on experience with system/network tools such as EBPF, tcpdump, strace, ntp/ptp, lsof, nc.
- Experience with Linux security hardening techniques.
- Understanding of SSO / SCIM for 3rd party tool integration.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control systems (Git), and PR-based workflows.
- Familiarity with Ansible / Terraform for managing deployment and configuration of systems.
- Strong experience with monitoring and alerting tools like ElasticSearch, Victoria Metrics, Grafana, and Alert Manager.
- Proficiency in Python for automating operational tasks and system administration.
- Ability to manage large projects, work collaboratively in a team, and communicate effectively to drive technical improvements.
- Willingness to learn new technologies, navigate frequent change, and contribute to a high-performance engineering environment.
A plus would be:
- Experience with AI observability platforms (MLFlow, Arize, LangSmith) or other AI background.
- Experience with writing and maintaining evals for AI systems.
- Experience with sandboxing tools (bubblewrap, e2b, daytona).
