About the Role: Senior Optical Systems Engineer

Optikos is seeking a talented, enthusiastic, and creative individual with a solid optics background to join our Engineering Services group. You will join a diverse engineering staff and develop new and cutting-edge products for our customers and for the Optikos product line. Our small company atmosphere (90+ employees) is ideal for those engineers who enjoy the full gamut of product development, from conceptualization, modeling and simulation, to prototyping and laboratory testing.

You will build the products you design and see them manufactured for use in consumer, industrial, medical, and aerospace applications. Optikos specializes in taking on interesting and challenging projects, and we are eager to add talent to our exceptional team!

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work hands-on in the lab to build and test designs.
  • Utilize optical test equipment such as interferometers, autocollimators, and spectrophotometers.
  • Maintain proper optics handling and care.
  • Produce clear technical documentation, test reports and work instructions.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and support junior engineers.
  • Use optical design software, preferably Zemax OpticStudio.

Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, or related field; Master's or PhD preferred.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in instrumentation development.
  • Strong problem solving, troubleshooting, and independent work capability.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow written instructions.
