About The Team
The AI Deployment Engineering (ADE) team at OpenAI focuses on ensuring the safe and effective deployment of Generative AI applications for both developers and enterprises. Serving as trusted advisors and technical partners, we assist customers in building and executing their AI adoption strategies post-sale. Our core mission is to cultivate a robust backlog of GenAI use cases tailored to each customer's industry, guiding these initiatives from initial prototype through to full production with hands-on technical support and collaborative partnership.
As a Partner AI Deployment Engineer, you will specifically work with systems integrators and their most strategic clients, helping them transform their businesses using advanced AI solutions like enhanced customer service, automated content generation, and innovative applications leveraging OpenAI's cutting-edge models.
About The Role
OpenAI is seeking a driven solutions leader with a product-centric mindset to be a foundational Partner AI Deployment Engineer. In this role, you will own the technical engagement with various systems integrators (including GSIs, RSIs, and boutique SIs) to ensure their customers realize tangible business value through Generative AI. You will be instrumental in helping partners identify high-value use cases and providing technical enablement for the implementation of AI solutions. Your contributions will significantly accelerate partners' ability to achieve broader distribution and adoption, ensuring excellent results for joint customers while upholding high-quality standards. This position involves close collaboration with Sales, Solutions Engineering, Applied Research, and Product teams, and you will report directly to the Head of Solutions Architecture.
This role is based in San Francisco, CA, and operates under a hybrid work model requiring 3 days in the office per week. Relocation assistance is available for new employees.
In This Role, You Will
- Deeply embed with GSIs, RSIs, and boutique SIs as the technical lead, acting as their thought partner to ideate and build novel applications on our API for their customers.
- Work alongside senior SI and customer stakeholders to pinpoint optimal GenAI applications within their industries and develop a comprehensive backlog supporting their AI roadmap.
- Directly intervene to accelerate customer time-to-value by building hands-on prototypes or delivering impactful strategic guidance.
- Forge and nurture relationships with SI and customer stakeholders to ensure successful deployment and scaling of their applications.
- Codify solution packages and architectural patterns to expedite deployment for customers and partners.
- Provide technical leadership during partners' initial projects, ensuring successful implementations and mentoring their technical teams towards self-sufficiency with OpenAI-powered solutions.
- Scale the Partner Solutions Architect function by sharing knowledge, codifying best practices, contributing to open-source repositories, and publishing resources to internal and external knowledge bases.
- Validate, synthesize, and deliver high-signal feedback to the Product and Research teams.
You’ll Thrive In This Role If You
- Have 8+ years of technical consulting (or equivalent) experience, managing C-level technical and business relationships with complex global organizations.
- Have led complex technical projects and programs involving numerous stakeholders, ideally within or through an SI.
- Possess industry experience in programming languages such as Python or JavaScript.
- Have led complex implementations of Generative AI and/or traditional ML solutions.
- Have built and/or delivered prototypes using the OpenAI API.
- Are an effective presenter and communicator capable of translating complex business and technical topics for diverse audiences, including senior leadership.
- Own problems end-to-end and are committed to acquiring any necessary knowledge to complete tasks.
- Maintain a humble attitude, a willingness to support colleagues, and a strong desire for team success.
