About The Organization
Public Rights Project (PRP) is a non-partisan, non-profit organization founded in 2017 by Jill Habig, an Ashoka award-winning fellow and former civil rights attorney. PRP is a fully remote team operating across nine states with key support from notable funders including Ford Foundation, Skoll Foundation, Crankstart, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and Democracy Fund.
About The Role
The Director of People will work at the intersection of law, government, and social justice. In this role, you will partner with leadership to shape PRP's culture, build career pathways, and ensure every employee feels supported to excel. This position requires a seasoned, strategic, and equity-focused people leader capable of building scalable systems and fostering an inclusive workplace.
Key Responsibilities
- HR Policy & Compliance: Develop and enforce HR strategies, policies, and employee handbook updates ensuring legal compliance.
- Performance Management: Lead performance review systems, coach managers, and design career pathways.
- Culture & Employee Engagement: Drive DEIB initiatives and serve as a trusted advisor to staff at all levels.
- Talent Strategy & People Operations: Oversee the People team, support recruitment and onboarding processes, and partner on workforce planning.
Who You'll Work With
You will report to the Chief Operating Officer and collaborate closely with the Executive Leadership Team, supervising the Recruiting Manager and People Operations Manager.
