Litigation Paralegal - O'Melveny & Myers LLP
O'Melveny & Myers LLP is seeking a dedicated Litigation Paralegal to join our Houston office. This role is integral to supporting various firm practices through a comprehensive range of litigation-related paralegal responsibilities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain and organize litigation drives to ensure case documents are easily and promptly accessible.
- Coordinate, review, and maintain project status tracking charts, including tasks and deliverable requirements.
- Assist in all phases of discovery, including fact gathering, document analysis, document productions, and preparation for depositions and witness interviews.
- Conduct factual research to support attorney projects.
- Perform cite checking and proofreading.
- Coordinate court and agency filings.
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, and other outside parties as requested or approved by attorneys.
- Assist attorneys with preparing legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and subpoenas.
- Assist with trial preparation, including maintenance of case calendars, case files, and trial notebooks.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in performing traditional, litigation paralegal functions.
- Experience in energy litigation is desirable.
- Experience preparing for and/or attending trial is strongly preferred.
- Ability to perform quality control analysis and report issues with data.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment with attorneys, other staff members, and external entities.
- Ability to be a proactive self-starter who understands the details within a much larger context.
- Demonstrates extreme attention to detail.
- Excellent client service skills and ability to work on multiple matters simultaneously in an organized manner and under minimal supervision.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite applications including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Experience with e-discovery platforms (Relativity, Opus2).
- Flexibility/availability to work overtime as needed.
