What You Will Do
As a Database Administration Specialist, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing the Ohio Department of Transportation's database systems. Your responsibilities will include:
- Design and configure cluster nodes, standby servers, log shipping, and replication to ensure maximum system uptime through High Availability Architecture.
- Manage ETL processes, utilizing SSIS for SQL Server, to replicate and transform data while monitoring warehouse data loads for BI & Data Warehousing.
- Tune system configurations and data manipulation models across multiple platforms to ensure efficiency and optimal Performance Optimization.
- Establish data exchange standards, define security models, and maintain technical documentation for installation and monitoring under Standards & Security.
- Create comprehensive database strategies that support evolving business needs and provide valuable technical mentorship to peers as part of Strategy & Mentorship.

Requirements
Candidates should possess a strong background in database administration with combined work experience in areas such as high availability solutions, solution design, Tier III database support, and project planning. Specific qualifications include:
- 60 months of combined work experience in designing and implementing high availability solutions, performing solution design, providing technical Tier III database support, developing project plans with a project manager or recommending an approach through defining tasks and/or leading meetings relating to the design, implementation, operation, and ongoing maintenance of database systems. This must include 12 months of work experience in the primary technology specified by the agency in the position description & job posting.
- Alternatively, completion of an associate's core program in computer science or information systems combined with 42 months of relevant work experience, including 12 months in the primary technology.
- Or, completion of an undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems combined with 36 months of relevant work experience, including 12 months in the primary technology.
- Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above may also be considered.
