Role Summary

The Data Administration Manager assists the Chief in planning and administering enterprise-wide Data Collection Systems. This role involves significant leadership in data administration, ensuring high standards, security, and effective policy formulation across the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervises data administration managers across various department offices, including assigning and prioritizing work, making hiring recommendations, and evaluating staff performance.
  • Assigns and prioritizes program/project policies, procedures, and timelines for data-related initiatives.
  • Provides embedded data management support to specific offices or centers, reviewing database design, documentation, and data element parameters for compliance with department standards.
  • Monitors work progress and designs, develops, and maintains processes for monitoring report card data quality.
  • Evaluates data policy questions related to data corrections and usage, and formulates new policies concerning data collection and use.
  • Assists staff in resolving complex computer problems related to data collection, verification, and analysis.
  • Ensures adherence to data administration standards in line with best practices and industry guidelines.
  • Maintains standardization of data element definitions and documentation, and manages data system security.
  • Advises the director on training initiatives for end-users and customer service improvements.
  • Meets with internal and external users to discuss and resolve data-related issues.
  • Attends and conducts management-level meetings, coordinating with other department centers and offering expert advice to higher management.
  • Participates in relevant training/seminars and operates computer systems for data access, entry, and retrieval.

Qualifications

Completion of an undergraduate core program in business or public administration, or data processing/computer science/information systems technology is required, coupled with:

  • 4 years of experience or training in developing and maintaining data administration policies and procedures for automated systems, including responsibility for developing standards for new and existing software selection, design, and development of databases (including security measures/controls, and how data is accumulated, maintained, archived, and removed from the system).
  • 6 months of experience or training in employee development/training or acting as a team/project leader over other employees.

Alternatively, 12 months of experience as a Data Administration Manager 2 (classification 67172) or an equivalent combination of minimum class qualifications for employment.

Compensation and Work Details

This is a Full-time, Classified position with flexible work hours. The compensation ranges from $47.50 to $67.90 per hour. The primary work location is the Ohio Department of Education in Columbus, Franklin County, Ohio, United States of America.
