About The Catering Assistant Role

We are seeking a dedicated Catering Assistant to join our team at one of our Lidl Distribution Centre sites. This role follows a working pattern of 08:00 - 18:30 on Saturday and Sunday.

As a Catering Assistant, your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting with food preparation tasks such as peeling, chopping, trimming, and creating sandwiches and salads.
• Maintaining impeccable cleanliness within the kitchen area and all associated equipment, including utensils, tableware, and catering stations.
• Aiding in the reception and unpacking of all deliveries, ensuring food and supply storage areas are meticulously organised.
• Serving food items to customers in strict accordance with the menu prepared by our Chefs. Our General Assistants may also provide host/waiter services for events when required.
• Topping up Vending services efficiently.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualities and experience:

• Commercial kitchen experience is highly valued but not an essential prerequisite.
• Possession of a basic Catering and Hospitality certificate, such as Food Handling or an equivalent, is desired but not essential, as OCS can provide this training.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to perform effectively under pressure.
• Strong organisational skills are crucial for this role.
• The physical capability to stand for extended periods, as this is often necessary due to the job's nature.

Candidate Criteria

To be considered for this Catering Assistant position, applicants should meet the following criteria:

• Must hold the Right to Work in the UK.
• A Food Hygiene Course at Level 2 is desirable but not essential, as OCS can provide this training.
• Excellent customer service skills are paramount.
• Good time-management and organisational abilities are essential.
• A Driving License is preferable due to the remote location of the site.
