Position Summary: Cybersecurity Intern
Oceaneering is seeking a motivated Cybersecurity Intern to join its team. This role is crucial for protecting the organization from cyber threats by actively monitoring systems, reviewing and reporting configuration anomalies, and proactively evaluating emerging threats. Key responsibilities include identifying potential vulnerabilities in computer networks and system deployments, requesting necessary security software, and meticulously documenting detections to facilitate efficient mitigation of future events.
This is a paid summer internship program, typically running from early June to early August. As an intern with the IT Cybersecurity Group, you will contribute to:
- Monitoring computer networks for security issues.
- Investigating security events and various cybersecurity configurations.
- Requesting and implementing security measures and operating configurations to safeguard systems and information infrastructure, including Operating Systems and data management programs.
Your specific responsibilities and projects will be tailored to your experience and educational background, ensuring real-world application of your classroom knowledge. You will work closely with a dedicated mentor to support your developmental goals and help you meet performance expectations.

Ultimately, your role will involve defending Oceaneering's computer hardware, software, and other systems from theft, loss, and various cyberattacks.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Document security configurations, events, and accurately assess the damage or risk they pose.
- Collaborate with the OT Cybersecurity team to perform tests, uncover system vulnerabilities, and assist with documentation.
- Request and implement necessary adjustments to detected vulnerabilities to uphold a high-security standard.
- Stay current on Information Technology (IT) and OT security trends and news.
- Contribute to the development of company-wide best practices for IT security.
- Execute penetration testing and vulnerability scanning.
- Support colleagues in reviewing security software and understanding information security management.
Qualifications
Required:
- Currently a 3rd or 4th-year undergraduate student enrolled at an accredited University, actively pursuing a degree associated with Cybersecurity.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office, IT Security applications, and various tools.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States now and in the future without requiring company sponsorship.

- A strong interest in pursuing a career as a Cybersecurity Analyst or a similar role.
- Prior experience in information security or a related field.
- Experience with computer network penetration testing and associated techniques.
- Solid understanding of firewalls, SIEM (Security Information and Event Management), antivirus, and IDPS (Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems) concepts.
- Ability to research and identify solution vulnerabilities and effectively explain mitigation strategies.
Work Arrangement
This position is Hybrid-Remote, requiring occasional commuting to a designated office. Hybrid work schedules are determined by the hiring manager based on specific business needs.
