Job Summary

Obsidian Solutions Group is seeking a Senior-Level Technical Writer to provide comprehensive technical writing support for Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) Surface-to-Air Weapon Systems (SAWS). The candidate will develop, review, and update critical naval tactical publications, doctrine, and procedures. They will work closely with SMEs, WTIs, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate, clear, and compliant tactical information.

Specific Responsibilities

• Review, update, and develop tactical publications (TACMEMO, TACBUL, TACNOTE, TAMs, FAMs).
• Edit Joint Publications, Navy Warfare Publications, NTTP, CONOPS, CONEMP, and NTRP.
• Monitor publication project progress across all phases using project databases.
• Research and validate information from battle bills, naval messages, and equipment manuals.
• Write and edit clear, succinct publications with proper classification markings.
• Create high quality graphics, figures, tables, and visual presentations.
• Collaborate with SMEs, WTIs, and stakeholders to ensure content clarity.
• Follow editorial policies set by the N5 Directorate and NRTP 1-01.
• Recommend effective presentation and content organization methods.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with minimum 5 years of technical writing experience in defense/military environments.
• Active Security Clearance (Secret, Top Secret, TS/SCI eligible).
• 5+ years experience in developing high-quality graphics and using Adobe software.
• Experience in teaching or developing BMD or IAMD related doctrine and TTP.
• Strong understanding of Navy publication standards and classification guidelines.
• Expertise in naval tactical operations and equipment configuration.
• Proficiency in publication project management and database systems.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

The role requires working in an office with standard computer workstations, long hours of sitting and computer use, and handling classified materials according to security protocols. Work may be in secure facilities with strict procedures.

Travel

Minimal travel is required for stakeholder meetings, training events, and occasional visits to naval facilities or training centers.
