Role Overview

The Director, Asset & Portfolio Management at OakNorth is responsible for overseeing the performance and risk management of our commercial real estate lending portfolio. Reporting from our New York office, your focus will be on optimizing asset management strategies, handling distressed loans, and monitoring portfolio health while collaborating with origination and portfolio monitoring teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Asset Management: Partner with Debt Finance Directors to retain high quality lending customers, structure pricing, and identify opportunities for refinance or repayment discussions.
  • Workout & Negotiations: Lead negotiations and workouts on stressed or distressed credits, coordinating with legal counsel and internal stakeholders.
  • Market Insight: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of commercial real estate markets, competitor behavior, and capital flows to inform retention strategies.
  • Portfolio Monitoring: Evaluate portfolio data to identify concentration risks and trends, providing analytical insights on credit performance.
  • Risk Management: Collaborate with credit and monitoring teams to deliver process improvements, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate possesses 10–15+ years in banking with a solid background in asset management and commercial real estate lending. You will have hands-on experience managing distressed loans, strong analytical and financial modelling skills, and an ability to manage complex borrower relationships. High professional integrity, strong communication, negotiation abilities, and a collaborative approach in a fast-paced environment are essential.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary ranges from $170,000 to $215,000 per year. Benefits include a 401k plan with match, comprehensive medical care, dental & vision bundles, a Health Savings Account program, Employee Assistance Program, and 20 days of holiday leave.
