Position Summary

The Traveling Chef will supervise, coach, counsel, direct, train, and mentor employees at multiple locations. This role is key to ensuring quality and profitability across various event-driven schedules including evenings and weekends. Professional presentation, outstanding interpersonal skills, self-direction, and strong decision-making abilities are essential.

Compensation & Benefits

This is a part-time remote role paying an hourly rate of 28 CAD. Benefits include pension matching for part-time employees. The position will remain open until December 12, 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all line set-up, prep, and breakdown activities.
  • Delegate tasks to line personnel and manage buffet and beverage setups.
  • Assist the Executive Chef with record keeping, inventory, and ordering.
  • Organize employee work schedules ensuring adequate kitchen coverage.
  • Prepare food according to recipes while maintaining cleanliness and quality.
  • Coach and mentor kitchen staff and ensure food safety standards are met.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, peers, and subordinates.
  • Document personnel discipline and work closely with Human Resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Minimum of 3 years in a similar upscale banquet, hotel, or convention center setting.
  • State issued Health Certificate, immunizations, and Serve Safe certification required.
  • Technical proficiency in food preparation and kitchen equipment usage.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and long hours.
  • Physical stamina for extended periods of standing and manual tasks.
  • Basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
