About the role
As a Network Design Specialist at NZ Post, you will take ownership of end-to-end network design, from transport and processing to last mile delivery. This hands-on role is centered on designing and optimising our delivery network to ensure it runs efficiently, meets performance targets, and delivers exceptional service. You will review the network holistically, identify improvement opportunities, and lead the implementation of changes across multiple business units.
You will collaborate across teams to implement changes that enhance service, efficiency, and cost performance. This involves leading meaningful change projects that connect property, transport, and operational networks. You will work closely with the Network Management Team, Operational Teams, Property, Finance, and other stakeholders to bring network changes to life, owning projects from discovery to execution, including analysis of design options, building detailed implementation plans, and managing change impacts.
You will achieve this by:
- Identifying opportunities to optimise network design and improve performance.
- Analysing design options, including cost, operational, and service impacts, and recommending solutions.
- Modelling end-to-end network changes across processing, transport, and last mile.
- Developing network readiness and implementation plans, including risk mitigation and testing.
- Leading workshops and collaborating with stakeholders and team members to ensure smooth transitions.
- Providing project governance, reporting, and insights to support decision-making.

You are a practical, analytical thinker who thrives on tackling complex network challenges and seeing solutions delivered. You possess the ability to balance technical analysis with strong stakeholder engagement, effectively bringing people along as you implement impactful changes. Adaptable, organised, and comfortable leading projects across multiple functions, you will bring:
- Experience in network or operations design, including transport, property, or delivery networks.
- Hands-on project management experience and the ability to implement change initiatives.
- Strong analytical skills and experience assessing cost, operational, and service impacts.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with multiple stakeholders.
- Comfort working end-to-end on projects, from early discovery through to delivery and implementation.
- Highly organised, adaptable, and able to prioritise competing tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
