Position Summary
NYU Langone Health is seeking a Telephone Operator - Evenings Nights Weekends. In this role, you will operate the Medical Center switchboard, handling incoming and outgoing calls, patient information requests, emergency calls, paging, and overhead paging requests.
Job Responsibilities
- Directory and Information Services: Provide directory assistance and general Medical Center information, assist callers, and transfer calls appropriately.
- Telephone Console Updates: Update daily/weekly online directories, maintain current contact information and on-call schedules.
- Emergency Notification: Update and activate scenarios for the Emergency Notification System including emergency call handling.
- Emergency Calls: Respond promptly to emergencies (fire, bomb threat, code 1000, etc.) with calm and efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma required and two (2) years of Telephone experience in healthcare, hotel, or a large institutional environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must.
