Overview

The Program Outreach Specialist 1 will support the No Hate NYS campaign across New York State by assisting HBPU's Response Team and Regional Councils to respond to hate and bias incidents. Operating under the direction of the Assistant Director and Program Manager, the role involves outreach, community engagement, and data management for hate and bias incident response.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support HBPU’s Hate and Bias Response Team
  • Answer hotline calls and process online reports
  • Provide consultation, referrals, and community response design
  • Maintain database and analyze hate and bias incident data
  • Plan and execute community outreach events and meetings
  • Assist with marketing initiatives and policy development
  • Build external partnerships with community-based organizations and local commissions

Qualifications

This position requires a minimum of six years of professional experience in promoting public programs and services, with a focus on organizing and representing outreach events. An associate degree or bachelor’s degree can substitute for part of the experience. Preferred candidates will have additional language fluency and background in areas such as social work or human rights.

Additional Information

This appointment is part of the NY HELPS Program and may be filled non-competitively. Benefits include holiday and paid time off, PSLF, pension, health care, dental, vision benefits, and a $4,000 location pay.
