About the Pharmacist Intern Role
Under the direct supervision of a licensed Pharmacist, the Pharmacist Intern receives comprehensive instruction and training. This program is designed to equip the intern with the practical knowledge and skills essential for meeting the New York State Board’s requirements for pharmacist licensure. This role involves performing various pharmacist services, including prescription preparation, patient interaction, and inventory management, all under the direct oversight of a licensed professional.
Key Responsibilities
- Receives thorough instruction in all aspects of Pharmacy practice, including filling prescriptions and dispensing medication in strict accordance with established procedures.
- Assists in the par-stocking processes for I.V. additives or the unit dose program.
- Supports in the accurate interpretation of Physician’s original drug orders to ensure patient safety and proper medication delivery.
- Compounds, manufactures, and stores drugs and pharmaceuticals adhering to good manufacturing practice and standard operational procedures.
- Assists with regular inspections of medicine stations and drug refrigerators to ensure compliance and proper storage conditions.
- Maintains meticulous and appropriate records for all pharmaceutical activities.
- Performs other related duties as required to support the pharmacy department.
Minimum Qualifications
- A valid Pharmacy Limited (Intern) Permit, officially issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED), is required.
