Role Overview
The Director Cyber Defense Engineering leads security engineering initiatives to secure NVIDIA's machine learning, graphics, compute, and online services. You will drive the secure development practices, mitigate risks, and oversee the operational deployment of advanced SOC functions.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the development of an innovative, AI-enhanced SOC with autonomous detection and remediation.
- Define SOC engineering architecture integrating AI copilots, SOAR workflows, and agent-based detection logic.
- Supervise the lifecycle of SOC toolsets including SIEM, SOAR, EDR, XDR and cloud-native security services.
- Optimize tool integration across enterprise and cloud environments.
- Develop high-fidelity detection logic aligned with MITRE ATT&CK.
- Build a threat engineering function to simulate adversary behavior and stress-test detection pipelines.
- Create automation pipelines to reduce detection and response time.
- Mentor a cross-functional team including detection, threat, automation, and tool engineers.
- Collaborate closely with SOC Operations, Threat Intelligence, and Cloud Security teams.
What We Need To See
- MS/Ph.D. or equivalent in CS, EE or related field.
- 15+ years overall cybersecurity experience with 6+ years in leadership.
- Strong background in SOC, detection engineering, and security tool management.
- Experience with AI/ML integrated SOC environments.
- Proficiency in SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR and cloud-based security solutions.
- Hands-on experience with detection logic, rule tuning, and correlation pipelines.
- Familiarity with adversary simulations and MITRE frameworks.
- Expertise in automation and scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, Terraform.
- Ability to mentor highly technical teams and communicate with both engineers and executives.
