About The Team
The US FinCrime team, a key component of Nu’s Global FinCrime Risk Department, is dedicated to preventing Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT), and sanctions violations. Its core mission involves managing the US AML/CFT and Sanctions program, ensuring strict regulatory adherence. This includes assessing the execution of related activities and promoting the standardization and efficiency of policies, processes, and systems. The team's overarching mission is to continuously enhance the global management of money laundering, terrorist financing, and sanctions-prevention risks, strengthening organizational culture, policies, and internal controls to prevent reputational and legal risks and ensure Nubank’s sustainable international growth.
Your Responsibilities as an AML Senior Specialist
As an AML Senior Specialist, you will work closely with the BSA Officer to oversee the administration of the US Anti-Money Laundering and OFAC Program framework. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing the governance of BSA/AML/OFAC policies and procedures for the US, ensuring updates align with the AML/CFT Global Program.
- Staying current on changes in regulatory guidance and regulations, particularly those concerning the Genius Act and the digital asset environment.
- Managing inbound information requests (RFIs) from various stakeholders, including those related to law enforcement subpoenas, 314(a), 314(b), audit, and regulatory matters.
- Serving as the main contact with the BSA Operations team.
- Supporting various stakeholders, including 1LOD, third-party vendors, and Legal, in understanding BSA program requirements.
- Collaborating with 1LOD to evaluate new products, services, and market segments, outlining AML and Sanctions risks, defining necessary controls, and escalating concerns promptly to the BSA Officer and Risk management.
- Supporting management on key risk indicators (KRIs) and performance metrics, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
- Assisting in the annual BSA, AML, and OFAC risk assessment, coordinating information with various stakeholders.
- Contributing to the development of the monitoring and testing plan, including any Global Program requirements.
- Assisting with ad hoc requests assigned by management, including international efforts.
What Nubank is Looking For
Nubank seeks an individual with a strong educational background and significant professional experience in related fields. Ideal candidates will possess:
- A Bachelor's, Master's, or Law degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Information Technology, or a Risk Management-related field.
- A minimum of 7 years of professional experience, ideally within AML, Sanctions, Risk Management, or other control functions.
- Prior experience in monitoring/testing or quality control roles in AML, Audit, or Risk.
- Prior management experience is preferred.
- Prior investigations experience in the digital asset, payments, and/or Fintech space is a plus.
- Previous experience collaborating with global teams.
Key Skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities, with the capacity to translate complex technical data into actionable business insights.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective engagement with stakeholders across various teams and seniority levels.
- Fluency in Portuguese and/or Spanish is a plus.
- Enthusiasm for Artificial Intelligence and coding skills (e.g., SQL, Python, Scala, or similar programming languages) are a plus.
- Willingness to relocate to Miami, FL.

Work Model
