What You’ll Be Doing

The Junior Security Design Engineer will support senior engineers in creating and maintaining security architecture diagrams and documentation. This role involves learning security design principles, patterns, and best practices. Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting with the creation of network diagrams, data flow diagrams, and security zone models.
• Contributing to the documentation of design decisions and observing architecture reviews.
• Creating and maintaining accurate technical documentation and diagrams using Visio/Lucidchart.
• Documenting security configuration requirements and implementation procedures.
• Maintaining design repositories, version control, and ensuring quality of deliverables.
• Researching security technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, and endpoint protection, as well as vendor products.
• Assisting with technology evaluations, comparison matrices, and proof-of-concept planning.
• Maintaining a knowledge base of security tools and deployment architectures.
• Learning fundamental security concepts like firewalls, VPNs, segmentation, DMZ, and TCP/IP networking.
• Assisting with basic network security documentation and diagrams.
• Documenting baseline configurations for servers, workstations, and network devices.
• Learning CIS Benchmarks, hardening standards, and compliance requirements.
• Maintaining configuration guides, SOPs, and secure build documentation.

What You'll Bring Along

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in cybersecurity or IT security roles.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, and switching.
• Basic Windows and Linux administration and command-line skills.
• Ability to learn and use diagramming tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, or draw.io.
• Experience in documenting security diagrams or security processes.
• Basic skills in VM creation and configuration.
• A strong ability to learn complex technical concepts through study and practice.
• Self-motivated with a curiosity about security technologies and design.
• Excellent team collaboration and professional conduct.
• Networking certifications such as Network+ or CCNA are preferred.
• Security+ certification or working towards it within 12 months is preferred.
• Willingness to learn and get certified in CCNA Security, SSCP, or security architecture.
• Excellent command of both spoken and written English.
