Job Description
Billing Liaison Officer at NSW Health
As a Billing Liaison Officer, you will contribute to the millions of ways NSW Health is enriching health, and develop your career as part of the largest health organisation in Australia. This is an opportunity to work in a diverse team across multi-faceted roles.
The primary purpose of this position is to support revenue maximisation across the South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD) through the provision of high-quality, efficient, and effective administration functions. You will be responsible for supporting the resolution of billing requests from HealthShare NSW and within SWSLHD. The Billing Liaison Officer coordinates escalations and solutions, addressing various issues that arise with the transactional Revenue function.
Are You the Right Fit?
The ideal candidate will be an organised and solutions‑focused professional who can confidently coordinate and oversee the day‑to‑day resolution of billing requests from HealthShare NSW across the Local Health District. You will bring strong analytical skills to support troubleshooting, error correction, and the update of missing billing data, working closely with clinicians and department heads to gather the information required for timely resolution. Diligence in reviewing revenue reports, monitoring activity, and ensuring accurate data collection for efficient inpatient claim submission and debt recovery is crucial.
With excellent stakeholder‑engagement skills, you will build strong relationships across internal and external teams, providing clear advice and resolving complex billing issues in line with established policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will champion best practice across sites—including upfront patient verification, fund checks, eligibility confirmation, and the timely transfer of billing data—while contributing to continuous quality improvement by evaluating workflows, processes, and revenue practices across the LHD. You will also support clinician onboarding and provide ongoing training to hospital revenue teams through workshops, group sessions, and one‑on‑one support.
