Administration Officer - Emergency Department at NSW Health

The Emergency Department Administration Officer plays a key role in supporting the delivery of safe, timely emergency care by providing high quality administrative and customer service support in a fast-paced clinical environment. Working as part of a dedicated Emergency Department administration team, the role collaborates closely with clinicians and support staff to ensure smooth patient flow and positive experiences for patients and families. Through accurate registration, admissions, effective communication, and the respectful handling of sensitive information, this position contributes directly to patient-centered care while developing a broad range of administrative and organisational skills across a 24-hour, seven-day service.

You will be required to work a set rotating roster comprising of morning, afternoons, and night shifts. This is a compulsory requirement of the role. You will also need the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Is adaptable, reliable, and able to work a 24-hour, seven-day rotating roster within a busy Emergency Department.
  • Works well as part of a multidisciplinary team while also showing initiative and the ability to work independently.

  • This role requires experience in accurate data entry, adherence to procedures, and the ability to work confidently with administrative or hospital information systems and always observing confidentiality and privacy. Please outline your experience using computerised systems to register information, manage records, or process transactions, and explain how you ensure accuracy and confidentiality in your work.
  • This position operates on a 24-hour, seven-day rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays. Please confirm your ability to work across this roster.
