About the Role: Senior Cyber Security Engineer

The Department of Customer Service (DCS) is seeking an experienced Senior Cyber Security Engineer to help shape, implement, and manage a range of critical security controls. You'll work in an environment that values innovation and collaboration, contributing directly to the protection of multiple NSW Government agencies and the people who rely on their services.

The Security Integration team, part of the Cyber and Information Security Office, delivers key security uplift initiatives and manages enterprise-wide security controls. Our focus areas include endpoint security, cloud security (AWS & Azure), and Essential 8 compliance, achieved through close collaboration with teams across government and vendors. This role is pivotal in strengthening the security posture, reducing risk, and safeguarding our digital assets.

What You'll Do

  • Engage and influence internal and external stakeholders to deliver security uplift and address cyber security issues.
  • Build trusted relationships and provide actionable technical insights to stakeholders at various organisational levels.
  • Manage day-to-day operational tasks and service requests for supported security controls.
  • Investigate and resolve operational incidents, providing root cause analysis and mitigation strategies.
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of cyber security projects and strategic initiatives.

About You

We are looking for a technically minded individual with proven experience supporting and protecting a wide range of enterprise platforms, including Intune, Azure, and AWS. You should have the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with other teams and vendors, bringing structure, clarity, and oversight to complex or ambiguous environments. A proactive learner with a strong drive for continuous development is essential.

Relevant security certifications or industry certifications with Microsoft, AWS Cloud Security, or equivalent industry experience, are desirable. Significant experience in one or more of the following areas is also required:

  • Designing and delivering policies via Intune.
  • Identifying and remediating cloud security misconfigurations across various cloud provider platforms.
  • Managing and implementing endpoint security controls to meet security framework compliance, including Essential 8 (ML2) and CIS Controls.
