We collaborate with other agencies and community partners, to improve lives and realise the potential of children, adults, families and communities. We're focused on breaking, rather than managing, disadvantage. It’s work that really matters. DCJ is Australia’s top public sector employer, offering a supportive, exciting, and flexible working environment.

Your Role as an Administration Assistant

As an Administration Assistant at the Penrith Youth Justice Community Office, you will provide essential administrative and reception services to both internal staff and external clients, ensuring the smooth delivery of quality services. This role is an integral part of the team, responsible for managing administrative systems and procedures to provide high-level administrative and coordination support.

What You’ll Do

  • Act as a primary point of contact, performing reception duties including handling telephone and counter enquiries from staff and clients, providing timely and effective information and referral services.
  • Undertake diverse administrative tasks such as processing non-complex client matters, word processing, data entry, preparing correspondence, collating documentation, maintaining electronic and physical records, and supporting meetings and events to facilitate daily operations.
  • Assist with financial and workforce transactional activities such as purchasing, invoice processing, managing petty cash, and time-sheet management, adhering to Departmental processes and relevant standards.
  • Monitor and maintain office store supplies and equipment to ensure availability.
  • Contribute to various projects and research initiatives as required.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking candidates who possess a Working With Children Check (WWCC) clearance for roles with direct client access or client information. Appointments are contingent on successful reference checks, and some positions may also necessitate a National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014 and a Working with Children Check clearance under the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012.

While all applicants are welcome, preference will be given to candidates who meet the established standards of the role and are of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, as the Department values this lived experience in working with the community.
